  Pre-Screening

This will start the process. Once you submit this online resume, you will be sent an email with a link to the Pre-employment phase.

  Pre-Employment

This phase will take about thirty minutes to complete. You will be asked questions that will determine if you meet HCSO’s minimum requirements. Once you submit your answers and based on your response, you will be contacted by email. You will either receive a test date or a notification that you do not meet the minimum requirements and this time. If, you receive a testing date, you will be asked to bring several documents with you. It is crucial that you bring these to speed your process up and move forward in the application process.

  Job Testing

During this phase, you will take a written test that is specific to the position for which you are applying. Once you meet the minimum score, you will be scheduled for a polygraph. The required documents are checked at this phase.

Your background investigator generally will contact you within three days of receiving your file. He or she will schedule you for a personal interview. When you arrive for your interview, you should have all of your original documents. This phase also consists of completing additional paperwork and being finger printed. Once the background investigation is complete, your file will be forwarded to a supervisor for review.

  Review Process

After reviewing your file, the supervisor will submit it to the Administrative Review Board (ARB). The review board will determine if you meet the minimum requirements to continue the application process. If you do not meet the HCSO’s requirements, you will receive an email with a brief explanation of the review board’s decision. If you do meet the HCSO’s requirements, you will be instructed on how to complete the required medical and psychological testing.

  Medical Examinations

You will have a medical and psychological test. Once you pass both tests, you will go to the next phase.

  Job Offer

You will be offered employment. At this point, you can start soon as possible. However, if you need to give a current employer a two week notice or you have a prior commitment scheduled, you can start after your two week notice or after you have taken care of your prior commitment.
