The Patrol Bureau supports the agency’s five geographic patrol districts by performing a wide range of public safety, law enforcement, and emergency response roles. The Bureau oversees the agency’s special operations units, Vehicular Crimes Division, Emergency Dispatch Center, Honor Guard, and volunteer reservists.
It is made up of key agency personnel, including the Mounted Patrol Unit that provides deputies with high visibility for crowd control, routine patrol, and ceremonial trail rides; the K-9 Unit that assists deputies in search of suspects, missing persons, narcotics, and dangerous materials; the Honor Guard that provides ceremonial honors and representation at funerals for fallen personnel; and 911 call takers who determine a caller’s needs and relay the calls to the appropriate dispatcher.
