With a primary focus on enhancing neighborhoods and improving the quality of life for all who reside and/or work in Harris County, the Neighborhood Policing Division (NPD) comprises various specialized workgroups that support the law enforcement mission of the Harris County Sheriff's Office by broadly expanding its provision and diversity of services.
The unique areas of operation within NPD include the Behavioral Health Training Unit, the Behavioral Health Investigations Unit, the Boarding Home Detail, the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), the Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT), the Community Problem-Oriented Policing Unit (CPOP), and the Community Policing Unit. The Division also houses the Alarm Detail, which is responsible for permitting and enforcing thousands of residential and business alarms functioning throughout unincorporated Harris County.
